It is always wonderful to see a business get involved in fundraising for LOROS, and even more so when they do this to support a valued member of their team, who has had personal experience of the hospice.
MW Vehicle Hire of Leicester decided to do just that when their colleague, Joe Walter, decided to fundraise by shaving off his long locks, in memory of his dad who passed away at LOROS. Joe raised an incredible £2961.79 and inspired his colleagues to undertake their own fundraising challenges, to support the cause that means so much to him.
Joe said "I chose to support LOROS in my fundraising efforts because I experienced first-hand the outstanding support, care, and facilities that were provided for my dad during his short time at the hospice. It was the light in the darkness during such a difficult time for our family. When I first launched my fundraising page I didn't anticipate the overwhelming level of support from my family, friends, and colleagues. Which, in turn, snowballed into a big event hosted by my workplace.
Since that event, they have decided to continue to support LOROS in future fundraising events throughout the year. Absolutely incredible!
I am truly thankful for everyone who supported me and to LOROS for their excellent service."
Joe’s new haircut inspired his colleagues at www.mwvc.co.uk to dedicate themselves to a year of fundraising, beginning with a charity football match in March 2022. The team, looking very professional in their newly acquired kit, took on other local businesses in a 5-a-side tournament, braving the elements and some questionable referring! Placed 3rd in the tournament and as one of the top 4 fundraisers of the day, the team did themselves proud, with a grand total of £585 donated through their Just Giving page.
Georgina Sanders, Support Engagement Co-ordinator, said “It has been wonderful to see the incredible support that Joe received from his colleagues, and how they have committed to support his cause through their own fundraising journey – LOROS is a very personal and special cause for Joe and we were deeply moved by his determination to give something back. To see this echoed by his colleagues is really touching. The team at MW Vehicle Hire is now planning to climb Snowden, and I look forward to keeping up with their progress as they take on different challenges throughout 2022.”
