When visiting Jordan Motors on Narborough Road, it is apparent that this very close-knit team not only enjoy working together, but really enjoy fundraising together too. Owners Simon and Julie, have been supporting local charities for eleven years, together with their friends and colleagues. With donations from customers at Jordan Motors HQ throughout the year, and with their very popular Santa Claus Tour of The Pastures and Narborough in December 2021, the team has raised over £500 for the hospice.
Georgina Sanders, Support Engagement Co-ordinator, met Simon and Julie to thank them for their wonderful support. Georgina said "Julie and Simon's passion for fundraising is clear to see, with a very personal connection for Simon, whose mother Margaret, passed away in the hospice shortly before Christmas 2021. Simon was incredibly moved by the care that his mother received and now wants to support LOROS in her memory. It was a pleasure to talk with Simon and Julie, and to meet their team - I look forward to supporting them as they continue on their fundraising journey."
Talking about the time that Margaret spent at LOROS, Simon commented, "Mum spent 15 weeks at LOROS, the care provided by the nurses was phenomenal. Mum was comfortable, her pain was under control and she actually looked well, despite being so poorly. Mum knew what was happening and was able to enjoy herself, all thanks to the nurses, they were amazing."
Julie, Simon and their team are now planning further fundraising activities, with places at the Twilight Walk already booked and rumours of a skydive circulating around the workshop. Watch this space!
Every year LOROS needs to raise £6 million to provide high-quality, compassionate care to terminally ill patients from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We could not do this without the support of businesses such as Jordan Motors and the local communities that support them.
