Nestled in the heart of Leicester City Centre, Café Rialto is a hidden gem. Run by owner John, his wife Becky and brother Bob, the café has been feeding hungry shoppers for over fifty years and has become a go-to destination for generations of families. The café opened on Christmas Eve 2021 with the promise of donating all proceeds to LOROS, a gesture that was supported enthusiastically by the café’s loyal customers, resulting in a donation of £1000 to the Hospice.
Georgina Sanders, Support Engagement Coordinator for LOROS met with John, Becky and Bob, to chat about their donation, and to thank the team for their wonderful support.
“It was lovely to meet the team at Café Rialto and to thank them for their very kind gesture. John decided to open the café on Christmas Eve due to popular demand, and very generously donate all proceeds to LOROS. Everyone at the Hospice really appreciated the effort that John, Becky, Bob and their team made on this very special day, at a time when many would enjoy putting their feet up! We are so very grateful and wish John and his family all the best as they plan their retirement in 2022.”
Café Rialto also kindly donated several boxes of delicious homemade cake to LOROS, which were very well received by nurses at the Hospice who commented, “Thank you Café Rialto - a way to a nurse’s heart is with cake!”
