Just before 6am on 2nd June, a group of ten people making up the Baker Hughes GE Company team arrived at the Clock Tower, Leicester ready to cycle 86 miles for local charity, LOROS.
They set off together, knowing that LOROS and their own BHGE support vehicle, driven by Alan Bontoft would be there to provide support and refreshments on the way.
Fellow LOROS riders also enjoyed their stops and the team were delighted to share their water and tea and enjoyed making new friends.
A member of the team said: "The ride was mostly enjoyable with only three big hills but we did encounter some heavy showers on the way!"
Everyone arrived in Skegness in good spirits, 5, 6 or 7 hours later, to applause and medals followed by fish and chips, ice-cream, rock, drinking chocolate, beer and cava… all well deserved!
A 2nd team member added: "Thank you to BHGE for providing the funding for the van, a huge thank you to Alan for his support and tea, and a massive thank you to everyone who helped the team raise in excess of £2,000 for LOROS."
LOROS would also like to congratulate and say an enormous thank you to everyone who took part- it was a fantastic achievement. Your donations could pay for the cost of one of our specialist nurses for 15 days and we are truly grateful for your continued support.
