The weekend of 15th and 16th July saw twenty people in teams of three and four take on our very first ‘Into The Wild’ survival challenge!
Six teams were dropped off in the middle of nowhere and, with just over an hour to go before darkness fell, had to get a very basic shelter and fire set up.
The next morning we were visited by legendary explorer and adventurer, Ed Stafford, who met all the participants and shared some of his own experiences from his Discovery channel survival series.
The teams then had to hand back their tarpaulins and construct a shelter from their natural surroundings. Throughout the day they completed activities such as archery and navigation challenges, in order to earn food rewards to sustain themselves during the weekend, before eventually having to spend the night in the very shelters they had built themselves.
Fundraising Coordinator Andrew Ward said, “It was truly an amazing weekend and all the teams should be very proud of what they accomplished. They really did band together and used their imagination to build some incredible structures. A massive well done to everyone involved for surviving the full 36 hours in the wild!”
