A Leicester hospice is benefiting from a £5,300 boost thanks to a charity quiz night hosted by leading professional services firm PwC.
Businesses joined PwC for its fourth annual charity pub quiz at The Parcel Yard, in Leicester, to help raise funds for LOROS Hospice, which provides free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers.
The team from Spearing Waite were crowned winners, with Lloyds Bank coming in second place. Around 100 people attended the quiz night, including teams from Next Plc, Ford & Slater, Pedigree Filbert, Qdos, RBS, Eversheds Sutherland, Wyles Hardy & Co, Gateley LLP, Handelsbanken, Santander, LDC, HSBC, Freeths, Shakespeares Martineau and Brewin Dolphin helping to raise £2,855 through sale of tickets, donations and a raffle. This is going to be match-funded by PwC to take the total donation to £5,355.
Paul Norbury, senior office partner for PwC in the East Midlands, said:
“We’re delighted to be supporting LOROS and the great work it does, making a difference to the lives of people and families affected by terminal illness.
“Our pub quiz nights are a fun and popular event for businesses to come together to network, raise money for charity and have some fun. We’d like to thank everyone for attending and helping us raise a fantastic sum of money which will support a much-valued charity.”
Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Lead at LOROS said: "The support from PwC and their staff has been superb. During four years of our partnership the company raised more than £18,000, organising their annual quiz nights, which is truly amazing.
“That could pay for the annual cost of LOROS providing care on our ward for two patients and contribute to the running of our Day Therapy Service for two days. The difference the company is making to the care we provide means a lot to us all at LOROS."
