After a period of national mourning, a bank holiday across the UK has been approved by King Charles III for the day of the funeral of his mother HM Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19th September 2022. This is a momentous day in the life of our country and LOROS will be joining fellow hospices and charities in honouring the bank holiday where we can.
As such our shops and cafes will be closed, and we will not be running any fundraising activity on the day. The wellbeing session in Day Therapy will not be going ahead on the day, and our community services will run on a reduced bank holiday schedule. Other clinical hospice based services are unaffected and will continue as normal.
We know that many people will be deeply upset in the time leading up to, and after the funeral, and it may compound existing grief or bereavement. LOROS runs a series of volunteer-led bereavement hubs which are open to people who have experienced a bereavement for any reason. More information can be found at loros.co.uk/bereavementsupport.
