LOROS opens its gardens this summer

23 Jun 2022

At LOROS, the gardens and courtyards are a really important part of the Hospice.

Feeling the sun on your face and the hearing the sound of birds and the scent of flowers is a reminder of the simple pleasures in life. Nurses often wheel patients’ beds into the courtyard so they can enjoy the fresh air, and Day Therapy patients love to watch the birds feeding from LCFC legend and LOROS patron Alan ‘Birch’ Birchenall’s bird table!

The gardens are also used by our physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams too to help increase patients’ mobility as well as improve feelings of wellbeing.

The hospice’s beautiful gardens are kept in tip top condition by a team of wonderful volunteer gardeners – they do a tremendous job of keeping them looking lovely all year round.

Now LOROS are giving you an opportunity to enjoy the gardens too, as they are being opened up through the National Garden Scheme, and you can visit on three dates: 28th June, 27th July and 25th August, from 9am-5pm.

As well as the courtyards and gardens, you can take in the new polytunnel where Day Therapy patients and volunteers grow fresh vegetables in raised beds, which is prepared in the hospice kitchens for patient meals.

Booking in advance is essential so get your tickets  now to see LOROS’ lovely gardens at http://bit.ly/3O7xtVH.

Delicious refreshments and home-baked treats will be available from our new café too!
