LOROS Hospice has come up with a creative alternative to its annual Twilight Walk on 18th April – holding the event live online.
The Twi-Night In, as it is now called, will be Leicester’s biggest night in as the team at LOROS recreate the electric atmosphere of the Twilight Walk, live in people’s living rooms via Facebook.
Following Government advice against public gatherings, LOROS Hospice has been forced to reimagine their annual Twilight Walk, which attracts around 3,000 participants for the 10km walk around Leicester city centre.
Cancelling the event would lead to a huge loss of vital income for the charity, more than £130,000 – and have a direct impact on care for patients.
As a result LOROS is offering the Twi-Night In, where participants are invited to get their glad rags on, and get moving to complete 10,000 steps around their houses, whilst enjoying the entertainment of music, dancing and celebrities live on the Hospice’s Facebook page.
Lisa Wilson of LOROS Hospice said, “Donations are now more vital than ever. The Twilight Walk is our biggest event of the year and the money it raises is essential, helping support our patient care throughout the year.
"With everyone stuck at home as part of the lockdown, we hope to break up the boredom and get the whole of Leicester to tune into the new Twi-Night In.
“The Twilight Walk has always been a really special event - for us and thousands of others, so we are delighted to be able to bring the atmosphere directly into supporters’ homes, with no need to worry about the weather!
“If you haven’t signed up already you can do so know for a small donation, tune in from 7pm on 18th April and join us for a night to remember.”
The Twi-Night In will include live music, fancy dress competitions, dance and step challenges and special guest appearances. Thanks to our friends at Dunelm, there’ll be some amazing prizes up for grabs too.
