You may well have broken all your New Year’s resolutions by now but LOROS Hospice has come up with one which should be easy to stick to.
The charity is relaunching its regular giving scheme, Friends of LOROS, by asking people to donate the price of a coffee and a cake each month.
Rachel Hill, Individual Giving Lead at LOROS, said: “Being diagnosed with a terminal illness can be devastating, and turn a family’s world upside down. What becomes important is making the most of the days, weeks and months left.
“A donation of just £5 per month gives our patients the reassurance and peace of mind that LOROS will be here every day to support them and their families.”
LOROS Hospice needs to raise £6 million each year to care for its patients so every penny counts. Giving regularly ensures that the Hospice will always have the people and equipment required to make patients feel comfortable and at home.
“By the end of January many people find their New Year’s resolutions are slipping, but it’s not too late to do good for little cost – become a regular giver to LOROS and help support us every month so we can be here every day,” added Rachel.
LOROS care for more than 2,500 patients each year, patients such as Geoff.
Geoff said: “The staff and volunteers are just lovely, they’re all brilliant and they always have a smile on their faces. I just ring my buzzer if I need anything, even during the night and there’s always somebody there.
“It’s peace of mind, not just for me but for my family too, to know that I’m in safe hands. LOROS really is a home from home, not just for patients but for their loved ones.”
