Whether you host a cake sale, organise an afternoon tea, or hold a coffee morning, LOROS is challenging you to raise some serious dough for the Hospice for their ‘Care for Cake?’ campaign.
LOROS supporters are sure to want a slice of this campaign, which is running as part of this year’s Hospice Care Week, from 7th to 13th October.
To give a taste of what’s to come, LOROS held their very own extra special afternoon tea today, to launch the campaign.
Among those who attended, were the Leicestershire and Rutland WI, whose 137 branches are busy digging out their aprons and dusting off their whisks in support of the campaign.
“Our members are delighted to resume baking for LOROS, a special place in so many of our members’ lives,” said Janet Kirk, Chairman of Leicestershire and Rutland WI, who is among 4,000 members set to get behind the campaign this October.
Support from the WI comes after they were recently told that they were no longer able to bake for LOROS by the local Environmental Health, a news story that hit the headlines across the country.
“We are extremely pleased to hear that the issues surrounding the WI baking for us have been resolved,” said LOROS CEO John Knight.
“There was some confusion as to the minor details surrounding the WI regularly baking for us but thankfully, after investigation from LOROS and the local branches, the initial decision was overturned.
“Following this, we were delighted to hear that the WI were so keen to get behind Care for Cake? and are sure that they will all rise to the challenge when it comes to getting involved.”
