Leicester woman decides to brave the shave after eye-opening tour of the Hospice

Sajal Amrat, a merchandiser from Leicester Forest East decided she’d like to do something for charity, something that would force her out of her comfort zone. Working in a fashion-focused environment, it comes as no surprise that looking your best is an important aspect of Sajal’s life, so she felt a full head shave would have the biggest impact and raise the most money for LOROS.

As such, on the 16th February the hair clippers came out at Reyna’s Hair & Beauty in the Haymarket Shopping Centre, Leicester and Sajal braved the shave for the Hospice.

“I’ve always been a charitable person and wanted to do something new to raise money for somewhere local. I work in the fashion industry, which can be quite vain at times, so I thought a head shave would be the best way to really challenge myself” she said.

Sajal, 30, hasn’t had any experience of LOROS personally but following a tour of the Hospice she felt it was the perfect place to donate the funds.

“I called a few local charities to find out more about what they do, so I could decide where I was going to donate the money. When I called LOROS they offered me a quick tour so I could find out more.

“I ended up staying for around two hours and I was just in awe of the amazing work they do, and how many people they treat, it really was an eye opener for me.” Alt text

Her target was set at £200, which she has already surpassed on her JustGiving page.

“When I checked this morning it was sat at £2,568. I am just overwhelmed by the generosity of the people supporting me, I cannot thank them enough for their kind donations.”

Her own generosity doesn’t end there, Sajal will be donating her long locks to the Little Princess Trust.

“I’d heard of the charity before, and since as it would be no use to me anymore, I thought I’d give as much as I could from my challenge and offer my hair to children who have lost theirs because of on-going cancer treatment. Fortunately for me, my hair will grow back. For others, they’re not so lucky.”
