South Charnwood High School Concert raises funds for LOROS

Lauren Dyer, a pupil at South Charnwood High School, learned all about LOROS whilst her grandfather Paul was an in-patient at the Hospice.

Having already raised £135.16 for the Hospice from her bake sale, she decided to ask her teacher, Mrs Parrot, whether the school would organise a concert to raise funds for LOROS - they very kindly agreed to do so.

Clare Harwood, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: "I met with Lauren and her family earlier in the year and it is completely wonderful that Lauren is still fundraising for LOROS.

"It was a real privilege to be invited to attend the concert; I received a very warm welcome from the staff and students of South Charnwood High School and it was truly inspiring to see the passion which they all had for music. I lack all musical ability so it was fantastic to see so many students with such talent and drive.

"There was real range of performances; choral, brass band, solo singers, duets and a variety of instruments including piano, guitar, flute, trumpet. Show tunes, classics and new takes on old classics such as U2's 'Every breaking wave' sung solo with a piano accompaniment were also included.

"I’m so grateful for all of the hard work that everyone put in to make the evening run so professionally, and would like to thank them and all their supporters who attended the concert, for helping to raise vital funds for LOROS."
