Team LOROS recently completed the 'Way of the Roses' cycle route - a challenging 170 mile coast to coast cycling adventure running from Morecambe in the west, all the way to Bridlington in the east.

Led by LOROS CEO John Knight, the team of 15 cyclists was made up of a number of local business colleagues, LOROS employees and friends of LOROS.

Starting at lunchtime on the Friday, the team set off along cycle paths through Morecambe and Lancaster, before tackling some truly testing hills to reach Malham in the Yorkshire Dales, where they spent the night.

Day two saw one last big hill climb before the road flattened out and passed through the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Estate. With breaks at Ripon and York Cathedral the riders reached the end of their 90 mile day in bright sunshine.

With the wind behind them on Sunday, everyone made light work of the remaining 40 miles to Bridlington, arriving in time for a paddle and a fish and chip supper before heading home.

The event was very kindly sponsored by Cummins Solicitors, with LOROS providing support throughout the the route.

Said John: “I am truly grateful to all those that took part and impressed at how the whole team came together and raised an incredible £11,000 from what turned out to be a tough but enjoyable challenge.”

Fundraising Coordinator Andrew Ward added: “It was an absolute pleasure supporting the team on The Way of the Roses. It’s such a great, yet challenging route in places and the hills definitely tested them, especially in the Dales. Congratulations to everyone who made it all the way to Morecambe.”
