On Wednesday 11th May, colleagues at Global Payments began their annual Global Peddlers challenge. Called 'Tour De Leicestershire' this year, the challenge saw the team raise funds for LOROS by cycling 175 miles around the county.

Global Payments' relationship with the Hospice began when they hosted a donation station and a number of their staff volunteered to sort out donations at the LOROS warehouse. They have since chosen the Hospice as their Charity of the Year (COTY).

‘Global Peddlers' is just one of many events taking place to raise funds for the charity, which has been made more poignant by the death of one of their colleagues, Liz Brewin.

Liz, who had previously volunteered at the warehouse as part of their corporate volunteering day, died quite suddenly of heart failure. As LOROS was her beloved local charity, her colleaguesAlt text are working harder than ever to raise crucial funds for the Hospice in her memory.

Several other events are being organised throughout the year and one team also completed the LOROS Twilight Walk.

Trudy King, Senior Customer Service Delivery Manager - Relationships at Global Payments, said: "It was the first time that any of us had completed the Twilight Walk, but it's something we will now do on an annual basis in memory of Liz. We all said that she must have been looking down on us as the rain stayed away throughout the walk. The mood and atmosphere was great and all the volunteers were so encouraging as we walked by them."

On top of all the fundraising projects taking place throughout the year, Jeff Sloan, Global Payments CEO has also made an additional very generous donation of $25K US Dollars to their fund.
