On Wednesday 13th April the Specsavers team at Belgrave Gate, Leicester rallied together to see how far they could cycle on the LOROS Static Triathlon Bike.

Starting at 8.30am, the first person cycled two miles, the next four and so on – between them they managed an incredible 117 miles over the course of the entire work day, and hope to have raised almost £120 in aid of LOROS.

The event was run alongside Lab Manager Tony Walker’s latest personal challenge to cycle more than 100 miles from his home in Barlestone all the way to Skegness. It is the latest in a series of challenges for Tony who hopes to raise £1,000 for LOROS this year through a number of running and cycling events.

You can sponsor Tony by visiting his fundraising page: www.justgiving.com/oneyearchallenge.

Tony said: “I wanted a tough endurance challenge to get stuck into to start my year of fundraising and I’ll be donating all the money I raise to LOROS, an amazing local charity.

“I took a tour of the Hospice back in February, and it was fantastic to meet some of the team and see the support they provide.”

Fundraising Co-ordinator Andrew Ward said: “A massive well done to all at Specsavers for their efforts on the bike, for getting everybody involved and rallying behind Tony and his ongoing challenges.

“The money raised on the day could pay for one of our Community Nurse Specialists to visit a patient in their own home, providing free care and support to both them and their family members."
