Leicester West MP Liz Kendall will be visiting LOROS this week following the Hospice’s announcement to build a multi-million pound extension.
Miss Kendall will be visiting LOROS on Friday, where she will be hearing of the Hospice’s exciting plans to extend their building later this year.
The Groby Road Hospice announced that they had received planning permission to extend their Day Therapy Unit and build a state-of-the art Clinical Skills Centre just before Christmas.
Speaking about her visit Miss Kendall said: “LOROS is a fantastic organisation that works within local communities and helps families at a really difficult time.
“The expansion means LOROS will continue to provide care for terminally ill patients and support their families. I’m a huge champion of LOROS and applaud the work of their dedicated team who make a real difference.”
The extension, which is estimated to cost approximately £6 million will see the improvement of the Hospice’s Day and Outpatients facilities, allowing an additional 250 terminally ill patients each year to visit on a regular basis and enhance their quality of life.
The building of the Clinical Skills Training Centre will ensure that LOROS continues to be a leading voice in end of life care and education.
LOROS CEO John Knight said: “I’m delighted to be welcoming our local MP Liz Kendall to the Hospice at what is an exciting time for LOROS.
“I’m looking forward to sharing our plans with Miss Kendall in more detail.
“Following her visit, Miss Kendall, like the rest of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland will be inspired to continue to support LOROS as we watch the services of the Hospice grow over the next few years, providing support and care for local people.”
