Vodafone colleagues 'row the channel' for LOROS

On Saturday 20th February, colleagues at the Vodafone store at the Beaumont Shopping Centre, donned their sports gear with the object of rowing the length of the channel on a static rowing machine.

Carla Orton, Branch Manager at the store said: "Due to illness there were only three of us to face the challenge which made it a little daunting to say the least.

"I was delighted when we managed to row more than 50km, which is greater than the length of the channel, and we did it in record time too!

"It was so very quiet in the Shopping Centre and with just three of us on duty, we couldn't spare anyone to shake buckets. That said, we still managed to raise £120.48 which will be matched by Vodafone, making a grand total of £240.96, so I'm very pleased."

Magdalena Korytkowska, Corporate Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS added: "I visited the team on Saturday when they had just completed their challenge and spoke with Angel.

"They were a little disappointed as they were hoping for more support from the public, but they shouldn't be; they all worked extremely hard and the money they raised could pay for meals for 48 patients for a day. That is very important to us and I would like to thank them for their continued commitment to the Hospice.

The rowing machine used at this event is part of the LOROS Static Triathlon Service, which is available to local companies, organisations and their employees.
