LOROS will be hosting a special ‘digni-tea’ on Monday (1st February) to show their support for this year’s national Dignity Action Day.
Staff at the Groby Road Hospice will be asking anybody already visiting the Hospice to join them for a slice of cake and cup of tea and discuss what they think is important to them when it comes to being cared for.
The ‘digni-tea’ will take place in the social area and will be hosted by a number of LOROS staff, including Donna Walker, Assistant Practitioner in Practice Development.
“We always like to support Dignity and Care Day because the dignity and care of our patients is something LOROS works hard to promote and maintain,” said Donna.
“And it’s not just the about the dignity and care of the patient, it’s the whole experience at LOROS, had by staff, volunteers, visitors, family members and carers.
“Last year, we held a ‘digni-tea’ and it gave people that opportunity to talk to us about the care they received at LOROS, as well as speak to other people who are or were in a similar situation to them.”
Dignity Action Day is an annual opportunity for health and social care professionals and members of the public to support people’s rights to dignity in care.
This year, staff at LOROS will be asking people the question, ‘what is important to you if you are or when you are being cared for?’
They will be asking the question on their social media pages, as well as encouraging people to share their answers in the social area at the Hospice on Monday.
“We want people to share their experiences of LOROS,” added Donna.
“Every experience is unique and individual to each patient, their family or carer and we want to hear from as many people as possible as to what matters most when it comes to being cared for.
“We will be there to listen to people who want to talk to us.
“It’s really useful to us too. What people say to us positively influences the care we provide and the ‘digni-tea’ gives us another opportunity to gather feedback from those accessing our services.”
‘Digni-tea’ at LOROS will be taking place from 10am until 3pm in the social area on Monday 1st February.
Donna and other members of staff at the Hospice will be there for people to speak to and there will also be a display board with information on about the day and dignity in care in general.
