Loose Women panellist and actress Sherrie Hewson has taken time out from the stage to visit patients at LOROS this Christmas.

The soap star, who plays Joyce Temple-Savage in Benidorm, visited the Groby Road Hospice on Monday.

Sherrie, who has also appeared in Coronation Street, Crossroads and Emmerdale, is currently on stage at De Montfort Hall, playing the Wicked Queen in this year’s pantomime, Snow White.

Alt text“I enjoyed every minute of my visit to LOROS,” said Sherrie, who met patients, their relatives and staff members.

“The atmosphere at the Hospice is wonderful, so soothing. Never, at any one time did people seem down or depressed, despite the situation they are in.

“The staff and volunteers were all extremely jolly and full of fun, plus their enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed.”

It was an emotional visit for Sherrie, who has had personal experience of a hospice, when her father was diagnosed with cancer.

“It was very emotional,” Sherrie added. “But in a good way.

“My visit was full of emotional and happiness.

“I shared special moments with each of the patients I met and they were all a joy to be around.

“It was wonderful for me to meet them and I’m so happy that I was able to make them smile this Christmas time.”

Sherrie said that going to LOROS has put her own life in perspective.

“We all have worries and hard times but when you go to somewhere like LOROS, all of those things are forgotten,” she said.

Sherrie said she enjoyed herself that much, she hopes to visit LOROS again while she is here in Leicester.
