A Hollyoaks star has raised nearly £1,000 for LOROS Hospice by offering fans a chance to be pierced by him.

Soap actor Charlie Clapham raised the money at his family’s tattoo and piercing studio in Leicester.

The 24-year-old, who is now an ambassador for LOROS in Glenfield, donated money from the first 30 piercings to the hospice, as well as all funds raised after 5pm.

He said: “It was such a fantastic day. It couldn’t have gone any better and everyone was so generous with their donations. One little girl put all of her pocket money in the LOROS bucket and all she wanted was a cuddle, it was so lovely.

“There were so many people there, it was crazy.”

The event raised nearly £1,000 for the charity, which cares for terminally ill adults in Leicestershire.

Charlie added: “I’m hugely proud of the money raised. It was a lovely event and so nice to see so many fans, some of whom just wanted a photo. It was overwhelming to see so many people who had travelled just to see me.”

Last week, staff at LOROS asked Charlie to become an ambassador for the charity following his recent visit to the hospice.

He said becoming an ambassador is “one of the highlights” of his career.

LOROS community lead, Adrian Walker said he was extremely pleased Charlie has agreed to become an ambassador.

He said: “When Charlie visited the hospice last week, he was a total natural around our patients, their families, our volunteers and members of staff.

“We knew immediately we wanted to get him on board and it was our pleasure to ask him to become an ambassador.”

Tattoo and piercing studio, Kazbah, continue to support the hospice throughout the month by giving every customer a LOROS raffle ticket and donating £1.
