Hundreds of people are expected to join LOROS for their annual Christmas Concert this year.
Kicking off the countdown to Christmas, the event, which will be taking place at Leicester Cathedral on Monday 7th December, is set to be an evening of festive songs and fun.
The night is being organised by Applause, with BBC Radio presenters Monica Winfield, Dave Andrews and Martin Ballard hosting.
Speaking about the event, Monica said: “It’s set to be a good one.
“There will be lots of well-known songs and the evening is topped off with a mince pie and wine – and it’s only £7.
“I think we’re very lucky to be the first Christmas Concert in Leicestershire – I always think, wow, this is the first time we’re singing ‘Oh Little Town of Bethlehem’ and it’s at this event.”
Breaking from tradition, this year, the 9th Oadby St Peters Brownies will be performing a Christmas nativity, with the performers singing in between scenes.
“It’s going to be slightly different this year but it’s still going to be as brilliant as ever,” added Monica.
Fosse Brass Ensemble, St Cuthbert’s CP School, Musical Village Choir and Chris Hill are among those singing on the night.
Also performing will be the LOROS Singers, a group made up of past and present members of Hospice staff and volunteers, as well as their families and friends.
Director of the all-female group Judy Dodd, said: “We’re all really looking forward to it; it’s always a nice event.
“There’s always a great mixture of people singing and attending, including lots of children.
“We all love being a part of the event, you can’t help but feel a sense of joy when you sing to a cathedral packed full of people singing along with you.”
LOROS Community Lead, Adrian said he is extremely excited for the event, which proves to be more and more popular each year.
“Every year, we see hundreds of our supporters turn out in force to join us at our annual Cathedral Concert,” he said.
“This is one of many events and campaigns we have going on over the Festive period and I’m looking forward to seeing people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland support LOROS over Christmas.”
The concert will take place at Leicester Cathedral on Monday 7th December, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Tickets for the event, which are £7 each, with under 16’s costing £5, are available by calling the LOROS Fundraising team on (0116) 231 8431/2. There will also be a limited amount of tickets available on the door.
