On Saturday 7th November LOROS will be opening its doors and inviting people to find out how they can join the wonderful team of volunteers at the Hospice.
The event, which will run from midday until 5pm, will give people the chance to see how they could make a difference by lending a hand at LOROS.
Whether it is volunteering as part of the administration team, with the complementary therapy staff or day therapy, there really is a job for everyone.
And if volunteering at the Hospice is not your thing, there are plenty of opportunities out in the community, including home visiting, lotteries, in one of our 28 shops and our fundraising team are always looking for another pair of hands to help out at our many events.
One of the LOROS Volunteer Co-ordinators Suzann Chantrill said: “We are really keen to get more people volunteering for LOROS and this is the perfect way to show them why becoming a volunteer at the Hospice will be so fulfilling and make such a difference.
“What people sometimes don’t realise is that they can give as much or as little time as they can and there really is something for everyone.
“Whether people fancy spending time with patients or being out and about in the community, I’m sure we can find them the perfect job for them.”
Volunteers play such a huge part in enabling LOROS to continue caring and supporting terminally ill adults, with more than 1,000 people already giving up their time for LOROS each year.
Creative arts volunteer Dawn Summers, said: “It’s all about giving something back and using my creative skills to make a difference.”
Day therapy volunteer Lorraine Underhill added: “I wanted to give something back to the Hospice. My time volunteering gives me a lot of satisfaction and it is a privilege to work with such wonderful people.”
Volunteer driver Malcolm Danby said: “I work at LOROS because I am grateful for my life and I’m thankful for the work the Hospice gives me.”
If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer at LOROS, go along to their open day on Saturday 7th November from midday until 5pm.
