More than 100 people put on their boogie shoes, fluffed out their tutus and strutted their funky stuff at a disco fitness party in aid of LOROS.
The event, hosted by Ratcliffe College, was organised by Sarah Bragg, a fitness instructor from Queniborough and Kate McKenna, a retired instructor from East Goscote.
The timing of the occasion was to celebrate Sarah’s 20th anniversary as an instructor, 30 years since Kate qualified and the 30th anniversary of LOROS.
Queniborough Dance Company taught the ‘Hustle,’ provided a ‘Let’s Get Physical’ demonstration using exercise balls and drum sticks, and worked with a small group of courageous men who provided surprise dances based on the ‘Hot Stuff’ routine from the film ‘The Full Monty,’ and ‘YMCA.’
The event also included a raffle and a guess the name of a toy dog in a tutu and headband.
Sarah and Kate said: “A total in excess of over £3,000 was raised on the day and this figure continues to raise as people continue to donate.
“We are overwhelmed by the extent of the support and generosity we have received to be able to put on this event for such a good cause.
“There are too many people who helped to name them all. Our target was to raise £2,000 and we have exceeded that by an astonishing amount.”
