Volunteers are needed to help marshal a fundraising walk in aid of the county’s hospice service.

LOROS will be holding its annual Walk on the Wildside event at Bradgate Park on Sunday September 27.

Hundreds of walkers are expected to take part and dozens of volunteers are needed to help see them safely along the route, which starts and finishes at Hunts Hill car park.

Volunteers, who will be provided with refreshments while they are on duty, will be needed from 8am until 4pm on the day.

LOROS fundraising co-ordinator Debbie Dickman said: “We really do appreciate the support of our wonderful volunteers who give up their valuable time to help raise funds for the hospice.

“This event raises more than £20,000 each year and it would not be possible without the help we receive.”

Anyone willing to help is asked to contact Debbie Dickman at LOROS on (0116) 231 8484 or email fundraising@loros.co.uk

People wanting to take part in the walk can register online at www.loros.co.uk/wow until September 21.

All money raised will help LOROS continue to provide care and support to terminally ill patients and their families living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

* People are being asked to raise £30 to celebrate a hospice’s birthday.

Leicestershire-based LOROS is encouraging as many people as possible to raise money for the charity to celebrate as part of its 30 for 30 initiative.

Throughout this month the hospice is asking people to mark its landmark birthday by doing 30 things to help raise money to support the work that the LOROS team carries out in the county.

Donations can also be made online at www.loros.co.uk/30 or by texting ‘CARE24 30’ to 70070 to donate £30.
