HRG family day is a winner for LOROS

The first ever HRG Family Fun Day can only be described as a big hit! The weather on the day was perfect and the atmosphere during the event was brilliant!

As well as the charity football match and BBQ, visitors on the day took great advantage of the bouncy castle (supplied by Aylestone Castle Hire at a discounted rate), face-painting (supplied by BooFly Face Painting), archery (hosted by Ratby Archery Club), an ice cream van (supplied by Kaines Castles) a cake sale (cakes supplied by Kathryn Baird) along with a raffle, tombola, splat the rat, hook a duck and a 'sponge your mates' stock.

Scott Baird, PwC Hotel and Rail Audit Consultant at HRG, said: "It was a pleasure to welcome Magda and Lindsey from LOROS. They supplied everyone with valuable information on why we were doing the event and took the opportunity to sign people up for the LOROS Lottery.

”Unfortunately, there was just one sour note to the event for HRG, the result of the football match: HRG 2 – British Gas 7!

"The score was finely poised at 2-1 to British Gas at half time but the lack of fitness in the HRG team really showed in the second half as British Gas ran away with the victory. Happily, the match was played in very good spirit and despite the result everyone had a good time.

"By the end of the day we raised a total of £561! A fantastic amount of money and hopefully an enjoyable day out for all those who supported the event."

"I would like to add a special thanks to Laura Jolliffe, Dawn Pendery and Zoe Drewery for their help on the day."

Magdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS added: "Both Lindsey and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day with HRG and it was evident that everyone else did too.

"I am delighted that it was such a great event and the substantial amount they raised is testament to the hard work that the organisers put in to making the day such a success - I would like to add my thanks to everyone who helped out or supported HRG in their venture.

"The £561 could pay for one of our Community Nurse Specialists to visit five patient in their own home, providing free care and support to patients and their family members.

"Your help makes a real difference to our patients - thank you again"
