For the past four years, the nurses, doctors, staff and their family and friends from Spire chemotherapy unit have raised funds for local charities.

Caroline Turakhia, Medical Secretary at Spire Leicester Hospital said: "Each year in June we get together for a fun weekend, staying in a beautiful part of the country, walking 26 miles (or thereabouts!) in a day, and raising funds for local community charities. This year our chosen charity is LOROS.

"23 of us walked from Monsal Head in Derbyshire. It was a little wet at times, but failed to dampen our spirits and we celebrated with a wonderful meal and a party all together at the end of the day. Definitely to be repeated next year!

"We are delighted to say that we have raised over £2,000 already via Just Giving for LOROS."

Adrian Walker, Senior Fundriaser at LOROS said: "What a fabulous way to enjoy yourselves and raise funds too.

"Our thanks go to everyone involved in the walk and for choosing LOROS as the recipient of their fundraising activity this year".

"The £2,000 they have raised could contribute to the towards the running of the day therapy service for a whole day, for two patients to attend our day therapy service and for two of our Community Nurse Specialists to visit a patients in their own homes, providing free care and support to patients and their family members - thank you all once again."
