Julie and Mike brave the weather for LOROS

Last Saturday Julie and Mike Collett organised a "Mad Hatters" tea party at the annual Picnic in the Park at Loughborough.

The bad news was that the weather really was horrible and the constant rain put people off attending, so they didn't manage to sell all their cakes.

Julie said: "This year's event should be renamed puddle in the park - it rained all day and to add insult to injury the gazebo we borrowed was not water tight. I seem to be making a habit of getting wet for LOROS this year - it also rained at the Twilight Walk!

The good news is that the Loughborough University,The School of Business and Economics, where Julie works, came to her rescue and allowed her to sell the remaining cakes at the School on Monday.

The very, very good news is that Julie made a great £254.99 from the sale of her cakes and has promied to do it all again soon!

Magdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS said: "Julie and Mike are staunch supporters of LOROS and can usually be found, in fancy dress, at numerous events throughout the year,

"I am delighted that they managed to sell all her cakes after all the hard work they put in to producing them. The money they raised could pay for one of our Community Nurse Specialists to visit a patient in their own home, and for a patient to attend our day therapy service.

"I shall look forward to seeing what they get up to next and I hope, that whatever it is, they have a dry day for it."
