When Coventry Building Society's Leicester branch chose to take part in this year's Accumulator Challenge the team thought long and hard about innovative ways of growing their £50 stake.
Julie Ball, Leicester Branch Manager, said: "When we started the challenge we tried to think of ways of fundraising that would benefit both customers and staff alike. Many of our customers have passbook accounts so we have been selling protective covers for their books.
"The team also wanted to create something that would continue well after the challenge had finished but still raise funds so that our support could be ongoing - we decided on a tuck shop. This is in our staffing area and means that we can buy drinks, food and goodies at a price much lower than in the city centre and all profits will go to LOROS. The staff have loved it and it needs regular re-stocks!
"We also have 'specials' such as home-made cakes and samosas. It has been a fantastic idea with everyone benefitting from it.”
Magdalena Korytkowska, Fundraising Co-ordinator at LOROS added: "It is great to see that this team has been forward thinking in its submission and we very much appreciate their continued support to LOROS. I hope that, despite the fact that the tuck shop sits in their staffing area, I will be able to try some ‘specials’.
"I wish them, and all the rest of the teams, the very best of luck in the competition which ends this Wednesday and I look forward to seeing the team at our Awards Ceremony later this month.”
