£1300 has been raised in celebration of Danny Waldron’s 50th birthday and will be split equally between LOROS and Cancer Research.

Danny decided that in lieu of birthday presents he would ask his family and friends to donate prizes and buy tickets for a raffle to be drawn at his party.

Danny said: “I am delighted that we as a family along with friends have raised a fantastic amount of money for LOROS and Cancer Research in memory of my Mum, Dad and Uncle Tom. Both Dad and Uncle Tom received excellent care from LOROS and as a family we received great support”

Danny and his family came to LOROS to present their cheques and meet some of the LOROS staff. Elaine Godber, LOROS Corporate and Community Relations Co-ordinator and also Danny’s sister said: "Everyone had a great time at Danny’s party, singing, dancing and catching up. The raffle was very well supported, it was a really fun night and one that everyone will remember, well done Danny.”

Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS said: "We're delighted that Danny has decided to thank the Hospice in this way.

"This fantastic donation would be enough to pay for 24 hours of care for one of our inpatients and still leave enough to pay for 10 patients meals for a day.

"Gifts such as these are invaluable and help us to help people living with cancer and other terminal illnesses. Thank you so much."
