Spring Raffle winner to share prize money with family after giving £1,000 back to LOROS

The winner of this year’s LOROS Spring Raffle has told how she plans on sharing the prize money with her family.

The lady, who has chosen to remain anonymous, could not believe it when Lottery Manager Liz Singleton, told her she was this year’s lucky winner.

“She was absolutely amazed,” said Liz.

“She still couldn’t believe it when I turned up on her doorstep with the prize money.”

The winner, who had the top prize choice of either a luxury cruise or £10,000, has been supporting the Hospice for many years, in various ways, one of which is by playing the LOROS Lottery on a weekly basis.

However, the true value of LOROS was brought home to her and family when her husband died at the Hospice, following three weeks as an inpatient.

“The Hospice is clearly extremely close to our winner’s heart and it was lovely for us to be able to present her with this year’s prize,” added Liz.

“It’s incredible to think that spending just £1 on a raffle ticket could lead to winning £10,000.

“I’m looking forward to the Christmas Raffle already.”

The winner, who will also be treating a friend to a holiday with the money, has chosen to donate £1,000 of her prize back to LOROS.

Speaking of her win, she said: “The whole experience at LOROS was calming and reassuring. I felt my husband was getting the best treatment he could possibly get.”

This year, more than £100,000 was raised at our annual 30th anniversary LOROS Spring Raffle, with a total of more than 90,000 tickets sold.
