Runners, walkers, children, and even pets, dressed up in festive fancy dress and took part in the annual LOROS Santa Dash at Saffron Lane Athletics Track today (Sunday 14th December).

The event, hosted by LOROS and sponsored by Leicester City Council, was in aid of the Hospice’s work with terminally ill patients. Cost was just £5 for adults and £3 for children and runners and walkers were also able to hire Santa suits at £5 each.

Laura Fitzsawyer, a fundraising co-ordinator at LOROS, who organised and ran the event said: "We had a really successful day today. The setting for the event is ideal and we would like to thank Leicester City Council for allowing us to use the venue once again this year. It was a pleasure to organise and everyone who attended had an enjoyable and fun time; it is a great start to their festive season.

"I would love this event to grow year on year until it becomes the "must do" Christmas fun run in Leicester, so if you enjoyed yourself today, could I please ask that you spread the word to all your friends, work colleagues and family - help me double, or even triple, the attendance for 2015!

"As well as thanking you all for supporting LOROS today - I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a very happy, peaceful and healthy 2015."
