A Willy Wonka-themed ball this month raised £30,000 for city hospice LOROS.
The Golden Ticket Ball at The Marriot in Grove Park, Leicester, was attended by 300 people, who were waited on by characters from the Roald Dahl story.
The hotel was transformed into a chocolate factory, complete with 6ft lollipops, candy cane stilt walkers, a chocolate fondue and performing Oompa-Loompas.
The event took place on Saturday, November 8, and the hospice announced today that the ball was their most successful one to date.
Laura Betts, event organiser at LOROS, thanked the local businesses that had stepped in to help put on the ball, which was sponsored by Next.
She said: “This event would not have been half as successful as it was without all of the support we have received.
“We’ve had everything from candy canes to stage draping donated and we are so thankful to all of the companies who have spared not just materials but also their valuable time.
“I hope that they are as delighted as we are with the total raised and that we can work together again on future events!”
