Dress Down Day is a great success for LOROS

Local schools, businesses, shops and various other organisations in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have raised thousands of pounds for LOROS by taking part in a simultaneous Non-Uniform/Dress Down Day.

The campaign, which was adopted as part of Hospice Care week, was the brain child of Liam O’Halloran, vice chairman of the LOROS charity’s patients and carers panel. Liam hopes that this will become an annual event and will continue to grow year on year until everyone in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland embraces it's ethos to raise much needed funds for their local Hospice.

This year's participants included:

Businesses and Organisations: Affinity Law, Andrew Granger & Co, Aspects Engineering, B&Q Devonshire Road Leicester, Clear & Lane Limited, Connells, Cummins Solicitors, DCI Artform, Downing Drive Surgery, Edward Hands and Lewis, G E Druck, Global Payments, Harborough district council, HSBC - all branches, HCC International insurance, Impact Air Systems Ltd, Leicester Adult Skills & Learning Service, Leicester City Council - all departments, Leicestershire County Council - all departments, Melton Borough Council, Melton Mowbray Council, Market Harborough Building Society, Michael John Carpets, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, Pukka Pies, Ramon Holdings Ltd, RBS - Market Street branch, Roberts Coaches, Rutland County Council, Saffron Group Practice, Sainsbury's - all branches, Santander - all branches, Seven Trent, Sherwin Hall Kitchens, Snibston Discover Museum, Sturgess Motor, Walkers Midshire Foods, Wiliam Browne.

We were well supported by the Leicester Mercury and BBC Radio Leicester and were honoured to be visited during the day by LOROS Patrons Mark Selby (World Snooker Champion) and Alan Birchenall (Leicester City FC Ambassador).

Alexandra Gamble, Partnership Development Executive at LOROS said: "This campaign was an amazing opportunity for us all to come together to unite and fundraise as a County during National Hospice Care Week. We haven’t received all of the donations yet so we can't give an exact figure at this stage. However, we are delighted with this initiative and hope that this will become an annual event.

"LOROS helps over 2,500 patients and their families each year, and the demand on our services continues to grow. Your donations are essential in helping us raise the £4.5 million needed annually to enable us to continue to offer our services free of charge. Thank you once again for your support and I do hope that you had a fantastic dress down day in aid of LOROS. Please remember to share any pictures that you took during the day so that we can add them to our gallery above."

Next year’s Hospice Care Week is scheduled for the 5th-11th October 2015 so please remember to put Friday 9th in your diary for the LOROS Annual Non-Uniform/Dress Down Day 2015.
