On Saturday the 30th August, Coalville Town Bowls Club held their annual President’s Day. The current president Mrs Marilyn Miles organised the event as a Fundraising day for LOROS, which is a charity very close to her heart; she has always admired the amazing care that they provide.
A good humoured, but none the less competetive, triples tournament was followed by a sumptuous buffet, which was heartily demolished.
The buffet, raffle and donations raised £405 on the day and a further £145 was raised at the Barry McReynolds Memorial Gala held earlier in the year, making a grand total of £550.
Marilyn said: "I would like to say thank you to those who helped in so many ways; it couldn't have happened without the generosity and hard work of Club members, family and friends. I know that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, whilst at the same time raising funds for this essential caring charity - long may their wonderful work continue."
Debbie Dickman, a member of the LOROS fundraising team said: "I was delighted to be invited to accept the very generous donation from the Coalville Town Bowls Club. They made me most welcome and it was lovely to meet everyone."
Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS added: "I would like to offer my thanks to all those who lent their support to this event and, in particular, to those who were so generous with their donations.
"LOROS needs to raise £4.5 million a year to continue to provide help to terminally ill patients and their families and we can only do it with the big hearted support of people like yourselves - thank you all."
