During the months of March - June local companies competed in the LOROS Accumulator Challenge.
The team were each given £50 and over a three month period they worked on “growing” the money in any way they wanted providing it was legal and ethical. The challenge was successfully completed by 20 teams, who together raised well over £6,000 which is equivalent to the cost of a LOROS Community Nurse Specialist being able to visit 65 terminally ill patients in their homes in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.
LOROS would like to thank all of the teams who helped to achieve this incredible result; Affinity Asset Finance, two teams from British Gas , Forever Living and Pure Blessed Tarot all managed to double their stake amount while Royal Bank of Scotland managed to raise a fantastic £900 through employee fundraising.
Chris Greenwell, a solicitor from Gateley, more than quadrupled his money by baking cakes for friends, family and colleagues. Local jewellery maker and artist Laura Millen invited children to attend her creative workshop in the run up to Father’s Day where they were able to create beautiful, homemade cards for Dad and raise over £100 for LOROS at the same time!
For 2014 LOROS opened up The Accumulator Challenge to schools, colleges and enterprise groups with exceptional results.
This year LOROS are delighted to announce that the winner of the award for “Most Money Raised” goes to the British Gas Business Complaints Team based at Grove Park Enderby.
Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Assistant at LOROS said: “This year’s Accumulator Challenge was extremely successful and we are thrilled by the level of dedication shown by all of the teams. Initiatives such as The Accumulator help us to raise the £4.5 million needed annually to provide our services free of charge to our patients and their families, so every pound raised truly does make a difference.”
Preparations are already in place for next year's edition of the Accumulator Challenge. If you are interested in signing up please contact LOROS Fundraising on 01162318431/2 or fundraising@loros.co.uk
