FRIENDS and relatives of former Kinchbus driver Malcolm “Smut” Stafford who died last January, are staging a series events to raise money for LOROS in his name.
The 57-year-old lived in Hugglescote and worked in Loughborough. Organiser Wendy Strowlger says that the events include Smutikins Day at Whitwick Constitutional Club on July 4, at 8pm, and on July 9 there is to be a Smutikins general knowledge/music quiz at the Lady Jane pub in Hall Lane, Whitwick.
Also at the Lady Jane on July 26, starting at 2pm, there will be Smutikins Big Gala Day including lots of fun for the children with fancy dress competition, a barbecue, bouncy castle, stalls and a disco.
On Wednesday, August 13, there is another quiz at the Lady Jane.
And on August 15 Wendy’s son Shaun Dennis is doing a sponsored bike ride from Whitwick to Skegness in aid of Smutikins for LOROS. There is another quiz at The Lady Jane on Wednesday, September 10, at 8pm.
The final fund-raiser is being held on September 19 at the Lady Jane, again on what would have been his birthday weekend. Tickets are £5. With secret entertainment and a disco, 8pm till late. Tickets available from Wendy Strowlger or Kevin Cubbit.
