LOROS Hospice held its annual One Big Bike Ride at Rutland Water on Sunday and organisers hope to have raised more than £10,000.

The money will help the charity support terminally ill patients, their families and carers in Rutland, as well as Leicestershire.

Families and friends turned up early on the morning to have fun and to benefit from the exercise around the picturesque cycle routes, which varied in length from seven to 18 and 25 miles.

The weather helped to attract a bigger crowd than had been expected from the organisers.

LOROS Hospice fundraiser Christian Weikert-Picker said: “The ride offers a variety of routes to suit all the family in this beautiful location, overlooking Rutland Water.

“It has been a popular event over the years offering a real challenge on the longer routes for experienced riders who like a fast and varied course, while the shorter route is enjoyed by both children and adults. It is aimed at children who are starting out cycling and adults who enjoy a leisurely ride over a safe route.

“We have an aim of raising over £10,000 thanks to the generosity of our supporters.”
