Yet another very successful Music in the Park event was held in the beautiful grounds of Wistow Hall on Saturday 7th June. Despite the weather predictions, the evening was in glorious sun as approximately 1,000 picnickers enjoyed the concert with the backdrop of the magnificent building.

The entertainment was provided by two new bands to the event: the upBeatles and the Hathern Band. The upBeatles a Beatles tribute band played many of the bands hits including “Love me do” and “It’s been a hard day’s night”.

In the second half of the concert the award-winning Hathern Band, played a programme of popular songs and Proms-style hits, culminating in a special version of Finlandia, accompanied by a fabulous firework display in front of Wistow Hall.

Compère Carolyn Oldershaw introduced the groups and announced the songs.

Adrian Walker, LOROS Senior Fundraiser said, “This was another fabulous event with two great new bands. The finale with the fireworks display was as good as you would get anywhere. Thank you to Rotary, the organising committee, volunteers and the bands for supporting two local charities and putting on such a great show.”

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Wigston, was staged in the grounds of Wistow Hall with the kind permission of the Brooks family. The profits from the event will be presented to local charities including the LOROS Hospice, Hope against Cancer, and other Rotary charities.
