A new event on the scenic tour calendar for classic cars, raised £1800 for LOROS in 2013. Andrew Duerden, organiser of the Welland Valley Wander, handed over the cheque to Adrian Walker of LOROS, at Kilworth House Hotel.

The event, which is being run again this year on Sunday 10 August, will finish at the beautiful Kilworth House near Lutterworth. “We are very lucky”, said Andrew “the hotel has offered to provide afternoon tea for all the participants at the finish in the wonderful log cabin, known as The Staging Post, next to the open-air theatre in the estate grounds”.

The route is just over 100 miles in length and starts after breakfast from Foxton Locks near Market Harborough, before heading towards Rutland, following the River Welland. Participants will then travel south towards Oundle before coming back across Northamptonshire to finish at Kilworth House. A detailed roadbook gives easy to use route directions along with a descriptive narrative about places along the way. One of the features of the event is that it finds interesting places that may not be obvious to all taking part.

The event is being run again to raise funds for LOROS. Vintage and Classic cars of all ages are most welcome.

Details and entry forms are available on the website: www.wellandvalleywander.co.uk
