LOROS Press Release | Issued 23 April, 2014

With only a few days left before the day, join the 900+ ladies for the LOROS Annual Twilight Walk, starting and ending at the King Power Stadium this Saturday 26th April at 7:30pm. The walk has a 999 Emergency theme this year and will take place around a well marshalled route in the City of Leicester.

Ladies, please come along and support LOROS.

As part of the celebrations, walkers will have the opportunity to remember a loved one by releasing a pink helium-filled balloon, with their messages attached.

Louise Stapleford, a participant of the Twilight Walk 2014, said: “My beautiful sister Rebecca Whitsey found she had breast cancer 3 years ago. When she was admitted to LOROS on 23rd of January 2013, Rebecca's good friend (who was a nurse at LOROS) told us the news we had been dreading... She had days left. On Saturday 26th January 2013 Rebecca passed away peacefully at LOROS. The staff were amazing and treated us like family. They showed the upmost respect and actually cried with us. I'm so glad that my sister regained her dignity and passed away at LOROS where we could all be with her in her final moments. It's an amazing place and I know that Rebecca would be doing this walk with us if she was here.”

The fundraising team at the Hospice are looking forward to seeing all the ladies creative ideas in this year’s fancy dress! The theme “999 Emergency” calls for Doctors, Nurses, Firegirls, Policewomen and many more emergency service themed outfits.

For those people who have not already signed up, online registration has now closed. However, you can still register on the day when the fee will be £30. To see more details about the event, the course map etc please visit our Registration Page.

Although the event is for women only, men are also being encouraged to volunteer their services to help out on the night. If you would like to help please call the LOROS Fundraising Department on 0116 2318431/2.
