Leicester University Recruitment Team’s Amy Tebbutt will be running the Leicester Half Marathon on 26 October in memory of her late grandmother who passed away three years ago.
She is hoping to raise as much money as possible for local charity LOROS Hospice, which provides care for over 2,500 terminally ill patients and their carers across the city, county and Rutland.
Amy said: "3 years ago my gran passed away in LOROS. Although I didn’t get to say goodbye I knew that she was comfortable and not in pain when she went, which I thank LOROS and the nurses for."
She has been considering taking part in the Leicester Half Marathon for some time and has decided to take the plunge and has pledged to raise at least £150 pounds for LOROS Hospice between now and October.
Amy said: “Every year I said I would take part but never did! Since then I have been on a personal fitness journey and decided even though I am not a natural runner I will test myself! The Half Marathon will involve a lot of hard work, training, tears and tantrums and the furthest distance I will run to date.”
Amy has previously taken part in other fundraising activities including a number of 10K running events as well as the well-known Wolf Run.
