Innovative ideas helped companies raise more than £21,000 for LOROS and Rainbows hospices.

The Accumulator Charity Challenge saw the charities give about 20 businesses £50 each and challenge them to raise as much money as possible in a three-month period last year.

Barry Rivers Trading company, based in Meridian Business Park, raised the most cash – £4,000 from a two-day clothing sale.

The award for the most innovative fund-raising idea went to Enderby-based Venture Forms, which staged a comedy show.

Alex Gamble, LOROS corporate fundraiser, said: "It is fantastic that so many companies got on board this year. It is a great, cost-effective team-building opportunity which also enables your company to give something back to the community – it's win, win for everyone involved."
