The show society’s annual general meeting at The Crown in Tur Langton on Wednesday last week saw thousands of pounds handed out.

The main beneficiary was LOROS Hospice Care, which received a cheque for £1,750.

The St John Ambulance got £860, Lions charities £500, Norton and Gaulby Young Farmers Club £150, Slawston Church £50 and Blaston Church £50.

Director of this year’s show Oliver Lee said: “We are thrilled to be able to support a number of charities once again, with all the charities we support being local and community based. Supporting these good causes makes all of the hard work in organising and running the Show so worthwhile.”

The AGM also saw chairman Rupert West retire from his position and show secretary Julie Parker stand down.

John Stones, board member and society trustee, was voted in as the new chairman, with Oliver Lee moving into the position of vice chairman and William Young taking over Mr Lee’s role as show director.

Jolene Costello has taken over as show secretary and two new board members – Michael Summers and James Mount - were announced.
