Cheques totalling £15,214.08 were given to the Leicestershire-based LOROS Hospice and the Northamptonshire-based Cransley Hospice.
Both charities provide care and respite to terminally ill patients and have put their names to instant access savings accounts at the society.
Customers save in these accounts and without doing anything more are helping these local hospices because each year the Society donates one per cent of the average balances in the accounts to charities.
Mark Robinson, chief executive of Market Harborough Building Society, said “LOROS and Cransley Hospices play a vital role in our community and have to raise substantial funds every year to sustain and enhance the quality of care they provide.
“Saving in this account will make a huge difference to them, but will also benefit the saver with easy access to their money and a competitive rate of interest.”
