Since the launch of this year's Executive Quest a fortnight ago, several senior executives have come forward to try and raise more than £90,000 for LOROS hospice and cancer charity Prostaid by taking on a personal challenge.
Organisers of the event, accountancy firm Grant Thornton, hope to smash a £90,000 target this year, which would take the total amount raised since the Executive Quest started in 2010 to £250,000.
Ian Mattioli, chief executive of pensions firm Mattioli Woods in Enderby, has challenged himself to get within 20 per cent of his times as a teenage county sprint champion at 100, 200 and 400 metres – more than three decades after he set them.
Mr Mattioli said he was taking on the challenge after hearing his former school running coach Paul Blissett had died.
Mark Dunkley, a partner at law firm Harvey Ingram in Leicester, will be pulling on his Tigers rugby shirt and walking from the Northampton Saints ground to the Tigers' ground in Welford Road – a distance of 35 miles – for Prostaid.
