Nicki Tongue, of Wigston, was 46 when she passed away in January, following a difficult, eight-year battle with cancer.
On Saturday, a group of her friends took part in a 12-mile sponsored walk around Leicester to raise about £1,000 for LOROS, where Nicki spent time in her last weeks.
Kelly Robinson, 24, from Wigston, was one of the 24 walkers. She said: "It went really well and all of us made it all the way from Wigston into town and then back along Saffron Lane to the pub in Wigston.
"I'd say we've probably raised about £1,000 for LOROS, which is brilliant.
"It was raining a little bit when we started off but then it dried up and it was perfect walking weather.
"Nicki was a family friend and she was always up for a laugh and was a wonderful, comical lady.
"It was very sad when she died but LOROS did an amazing job so we wanted to raise money for them."
