The Colour of Ribbons ceremony, which took place at the charity's base, in Groby Road, Leicester, on Saturday, saw more than 600 people remember family members and friends.

LOROS fundraiser Nancy Taylor said: "The trees at the corner of the hospice are now covered with hundreds of brightly coloured ribbons and we hope to hold the event again next year.

"People came to tie a ribbon on a tree for a loved one and we were lucky with the rain holding off.

"The trees look beautiful and the ribbons will stay on for two weeks.

"The names of those people will be placed on a special page on the LOROS website."

The event raised about £3,000 for the charity.
