Tom Sharman and Gail Burton will trek across one of the driest and hottest places on Earth to raise cash for the LOROS hospice
Tom, premises manager at Fullhurst Community College, in Braunstone, and Gail, central services desk administrator at Beaumont Leys School, are competing in the Sahara Trek Challenge, a six-day trip across the Sahara Desert, in Africa.
The duo, from Wigston, work for G4S FM, which provides premises management for four city schools.
They secured their places on the trip by raising nearly £5,000 for the Groby Road hospice.
The pair, who embark on their trek on Saturday, have raised the cash with the help of students and colleagues at their respective schools with sponsored cake sales, a disco and non-uniform days.
Tom said: "LOROS is very close to my heart as it provided great support to both my grandparents when they needed it.
"I would like to give something back to the charity as it is such a good cause.
"We've received fantastic support and encouragement from colleagues and students."
