With only two weeks to go, the Fundraising Team at LOROS are becoming concerned that numbers for their annual Walk on the Wildside event in September are low in comparison to previous years.
The charity is asking supporters to dig out their walking boots on Sunday 14th September and join the sponsored walk over Bradgate Park, starting and finishing at The Severn Trent Water Visitor Centre in Cropston.
This year there are three routes to choose from. A 5 mile walk commencing at 10.30am, an 11 mile walk starting a little earlier at 9.30am and the NEW Toddler Trail.
Everyone participating will receive a goody bag and certificate on the day. Food will also be available along with lively warm-up sessions, a children’s activity area and outdoor activity trail and much more!
Christian Weikert-Picker, the event organiser said, “With numbers looking low we want to encourage the whole family to enjoy the day! This year we have a new route called The Toddler Trail which is suitable for the little ones, pushchairs and wheelchair users.
"Please join us for a sponsored walk that leads you through the historic Deer Park, past the ruins of Bradgate House to the ancient, atmospheric woodland of Swithland Woods.
“Without sponsored events such as these, we would not be able to continue to provide our valuable care and support to terminally-ill patients and their families living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
“There is a nominal fee to register of £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. Please register online here or call LOROS on 0116 231 8431 for your FREE sponsorship pack.
Last chance to register is Friday 12th September 2014.”
